Carbon Transfer Process
with Sandy King
Skill Level: Beginning Alternate
Process
Fee: $375.00 (including lab and
material fees)
The carbon transfer process is among the most permanent and
beautiful of the alternative photographic processes and we
couldn't be more more fortunate than to have Sandy King with
us this year to teach it to us. A wonderful landscape
photographer and alternative process printer. Sandy is well
known for his knowledge of the carbon process as well as the
author of "The
Book of Carbon and Carbro: Contemporary Procedures
for Monochrome Pigment Printmaking".
This workshop will be an intensive 2 day workshop, so come
expecting to put a lot into this one. You will learn to
choose and use the necessary chemicals and materials for
making your own carbon prints. From creation of a
digital negative suitable for the process through to the
final print, you will cover the necessary aspects involved.
Creation of the negative, sensitizing the carbon tissue,
exposure and transfer to a suitable base and its subsequent
development. You will then learn to clear the print and then
carry out the final finishing, including touch up work.
Sandy will also be doing extensive demonstrations on making
carbon and on preparing other suitable final supports for
the carbon image, including art papers and aluminum.
By the end of this workshop you will have the basic
skills and knowledge of the chemistry and process to begin
pursuing the process further on your own.
As stated above, the fee for this workshop will cover
all lab and material fees as well. Your fee for this
workshop will also include the registration fee for
Photostock 2009 and entitle you to all that registration
entails.
There is a $100 deposit due upon registration that will
be refundable only until May 1st, 2009. The balance of the
fee will be due by June 1st, 2009. Please choose your
registration option in the right hand column. Payment is
accepted via Paypal and you can choose to pay the deposit or
the full amount at this time.
A good companion to this workshop would be the one held
on Monday with Kerik Kouklis and Ike Eisenlord on the
Digital Negative
and we are offering a discounted workshop package that
includes both at a reduced rate.
Thank you and we hope to see you there! |
